Refinishing

Refinishing is the process of removing the existing finish of your piece of furniture or fixture and adding a new one.  The process involves stripping, sanding, staining and respraying your furniture.  While Furniture Works can restore and repair most items onsite, refinishing usually requires the piece be brought back to our shop.  It tends to get messy and causes many odors so it's easier to bring pieces in a more workable environment.  Refinishing is generally still cheaper than buying new furniture.  The process returns the piece back to its original condition so this option is cheaper and still popular today.

If you don't have any experience refinishing furniture, I wouldn't attempt to try this on your own.  It is a extensive process that can be a learning experience for even the most advanced furniture technician.  It requires knowing differant finish materials as well as wood species.  While not rocket science it is still an art that can turn into a nightmare if you don't know what your doing.

If you choose to refinish a piece yourself and need advice feel free to email me and I will help you as best as I can.
